Introduction
On December 19, 1998, Doug McWhorter’s life changed forever. His daughter Mandi and three of her friends were hit by a drunk driver. He had two choices. He could allow his struggle with grief to cloud the rest of his life, or he could transform this trauma into a message to shape other’s positive choices.
The worst nightmare of every parent. A twisting, gut-wrenching, heart-breaking tragedy. Eleven hours of utter shock turned into sorrow and a struggle with grief, but ultimately led to a journey of hope and purpose.

Biography
- Doug McWhorter is married to Sharon McWhorter and grew up in the small town of Brock, TX.
- Doug was also a youth pastor in his hometown church.
- Worked on the Brock ISD school board for six years.
- Worked in the oil and gas industry for 42 years.
- Spoke in businesses, churches, schools, prisons, and probation departments for 7 years.
- He was awarded the Texas Department of Public Safety merit award.
Doug McWhorter values family and loves sharing his faith and motivating others. In his hometown is where he found his love for basketball and helping in the community. Alongside his career in the Oil & Gas industry, he has a passion for speaking. Doug has also worked with former Texas Governor George W. Bush, former Governor Rick Perry, Texas Senator Phil King (former Texas House Representative), and US Representative Roger Williams in helping to change the DWI laws by lowering the permitted blood alcohol content to .08 from .10 and helping with an open container bill. Doug’s captivating life story and experience has led to the manifestation of a program about positive choices that will inspire all audiences, from the board room to the classroom.
